This book has by far the best layout and design of any quilt book I've seen (and I own hundreds).The quilts look complicated but they really aren't - and if you're nervous, start with one of the "easy" ones at the front of the book. Each quilt pattern is given in multiple sizes (Wall through to Queen) with a beautiful photo and clear illustrations and text, as well as clear cutting intructions and a table which makes it easy to see how many pieces to cut. The authors encourage you to experiment, and show how each quilt could look in other colour choices. There's even hints on catching any potential design disasters before they happen. I can not believe it, I loved this book WAY more then the Denyse book (which I gave 2 stars).The Modern Quilt Workship is just a wealth of information. Great quilting tips, and just really neat projects with great instructions. I started quilting in december, taught myself, having never used a sewing machine before. I am very paticular and like very clear insutrctions.
